Now that the semester is finally over and we've had a chance to breathe a little, I'm finally creating a new post. Apologies to everyone for being gone so long. Rory is a different little girl from when we posted our last photos. I'll try to get caught up as much as I can without posting too many photos. She's just getting so big.
We have also been able to do some hiking when it was still cooler out. We go out to Lost Valley twice a year with Chad's botany instructor when her class goes out. They take photos of the beautiful wild/native flowers and plants along the path. The photo at the top of our blog is a native Trillium, aka. birthroot. Here are Chad and Rory by one of the waterfalls we passed on our hike.
We've had quite a bit of rain on and off. This photo is in our front yard where some Mallards mistook it for a pond.
Since we last posted, Grandma and Grams & Pap-pap all came to visit. And we went to visit them. Over Memorial Day weekend, we all flew up to Ohio for GG's 90th birthday party. It was great to see the family. Almost all of my cousins were there. We also got to go up to visit Grams and Pap-pap at the lake, and see all of the other side of Rory's family at Uncle Sean & Aunt Lisa's house. We also enjoy going to the park. Rory still loves the swing and loves to put on her hat when we go out. Here she's up on Papa's shoulders watching as a train goes by.

It's been a warm month here in Fayetteville with temperatures in the 90s for at least a few days now. Our garden is taking off, although we got started a little later than we would have liked this season. We had some help when a few butternut squash volunteers came up by our compost bin, and it looks like we're going to have more tomotoes than we know what to do with if all our plants do well. I'm pretty proud of my heirloom tomatoes that I saved seeds from and actually grew from seeds this year. We also have a variety of herbs, pepper plants, yellow squash, zucchini and canaloupe, and are planning on putting in okra again this year.
That's all for now. I hope this post finds you all having a good, not too hot, relaxing summer. We are definitely enjoying a little down time with Rory while we have it.
