snow, snow, more snow...and cold

If you all have been watching the news lately...we're famous here in Northwest Arkansas for the amount of snow and the artic cold we have had over the last few days. At our house we got 18 inches of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. And we're talking "champagne powder" like folks at ski resorts pray for. Then, Wednesday night, our low in Fayetteville reached -18 degrees (it only showed -14F on our thermometer...maybe it was just in shock). It's the coldest on record for Fayetteville, although the state record is in the -20s. I thought we moved away from this when we left Ohio...but that didn't mean we weren't going to take advantage of four more days off from the University of Arkansas and go play in the snow. Rory's been talking about making snow angels for a few months now, and now, we present, a video of Rory's first snow angel!

Even though they like to play in the snow...until today, it's been too cold to stay out very long.

I suppose we can make it through ok. Next week, we're supposed to be in the mid 60s (which is why we are glad we moved to Arkansas) by Wednesday so all this snow will be short lived...except for the school kids around here who are going to have to go to school longer into the summer than they had planned.

We're off to make some hot chocolate before we're break out the sun tea next week. (Just kidding...I'm really not trying to rub it in, Ohio folks.) Here's to everyone being safe and having dry roads to drive on. Hopefully this will be the last of the snow pictures for us this season.
